A Note From The Heart

A Note From The Heart

As many of you know, Commune Wear’s journey began in Myanmar. Being Burmese and having grown up in Singapore, I’ve always felt a deep connection to Myanmar - its people, its culture, and the place where my journey with Commune Wear started. The recent earthquake has struck especially close to home, and I’ve taken some time to reflect on the impact it’s had - not just on those living in Myanmar, but on all of us who hold it dear.

These past few days have been overwhelming, filled with a mix of emotions - heartache, helplessness, and the heavy weight of wanting to do more but not always knowing where to begin. It’s been an incredibly difficult few years for Myanmar, with the pandemic, civil unrest, floods, and now, this devastating earthquake. The challenges feel relentless, and I can only imagine the burden carried by those living through it.

After much reflection, I realized that the most immediate way I could contribute is through what we do best at Commune Wear - our work, our community, and our shared mission. For the month of April, we’ll be setting aside 3% of sales from every pair of shoes sold to support relief efforts in Myanmar. It’s a small step, but I hope it will make a meaningful difference. Every pair of shoes you purchase will be part of something bigger, a collective effort to offer hope and aid during this difficult time.

I also feel the weight of not being there in person - to witness the damage firsthand, to help in ways that only those on the ground truly can. Myanmar has endured so much already, but the strength and resilience of its people continue to inspire me. While I reflect on what more we can do, I am also deeply aware of the many individuals and organizations already doing incredible work on the ground.

If you have any ideas or know of ways we can help further, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am here to listen, and together, we can contribute to this journey however we can.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us, for your ongoing support, and for standing with Myanmar during this challenging time. Your care, compassion, and support mean everything to me, and together, I believe we can help bring comfort and relief to those who need it most.

With Love,
May
