OUR FAVOURITE
1. Simply Bread
#02-07 Cluny Court
We held many morning team meetings here before we had a place to call home in Cluny Court. We love how simple and delicious the food is here. Our go to brekkie’s are the mushroom scrambled eggs and the butter and jam with their freshly made bread, it is delightful. You can’t leave Cluny Court without buying their sticky buns - they are simply the best thing, we hear that they are usually ready by 11am and sold out before 3pm!
2. Atlas Coffeehouse
6 Duke’s Road, Singapore 268886
It’s our founders’ favourite cafe in Singapore, we love everything about Atlas Coffeehouse, from their coffee to their food to the aesthetically designed high ceiling interior to how fast they serve their dishes. The only downside? The endless queue if you visit during a peak hour - but we say it’s all worth it. Our go-to dishes are The Gentleman’s Relish, Summer Fresh Toast, Butterscotch Banana Pancake and Salmon Soba Bowl.
3. My Little Spanish Place
619 Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 269720
About 10 minutes walk from Cluny Court, My Little Spanish Place founded in 2010 serves up authentic and homely Spanish food. It’s always buzzing here in the evening, we have spent countless meals here with our friends. We’ve narrowed down our favourite dishes, the must-haves are Secreto Iberico, Gambas al Ajillo with their garlic bread and Arroz Negro Paella.
4. Bakery Breara
#01-05, 8 Empress Road, Singapore 260008
A little walk from Cluny Court - worth the extra few steps - because you are going to get delicious bread in your tummy. Bakery Brera, offers fresh baked artisan bread made with fine flours from France and Japan with no preservatives. It’s hard to choose a favourite here, as they are all great, they serve up a good variety of sweet and savoury options! Definitely worth a visit we say!
WHERE TO EAT
RELISH
#02-01 Cluny Court
Walking into Relish, feels like you have walked into a garden for lunch! It gives off such a vacay vibes, with their indoor greenery. The dishes you definitely must order are the Crabmeat Linguine, Hae Bee Hiam Spaghettini and the Turnip, Cucumber, Mango and Tiger Prawn Salad to share.
FBG
#01-04 Serene Centre
They have the most delicious - unique steak cuts at an affordable price, they are great for lunch with friends as well as date nights. We especially love visiting this place in the evening for dinner. The steak here are seared nicely giving them a crispy crust with a nice marbling and juicy texture. We love their Jack’s Creek F1 Wagyu Deckle MS-4/5, and don’t forget to add sides like the Fried Brussels sprouts and grilled Broccolini - ending it off with Stan’s Tiramisu.
MICROBAKERY
#01-05 Serene Centre
Dining here at Microbakery makes you feel like you are on vacation, with their moody low lights, huge outdoor seating the ever alluring smells of fresh bread. It’s a great brunch place for sure! They serve up artisanal sourdough bread, sweet bakes, toasts and coffee. We love that they use natural ingredients with no additives, for their breads which are naturally leavened using organic and sustainable flour. We come here often for their Grilled Flatbread & Banana cake!
PLAIN VANILLA
#01-03a Cluny Court
PV probably doesn’t even need an introduction with their shops scattered all over Singapore, touted for having the best cupcakes in town. It’s hard to choose a favourite, but we think it’s the Cinnamon Brown Sugar for us followed by the Milk Chocolate Banana and Strawberry White Chocolate. PV not only make great cupcakes, they do other bakes like the Banana Bread, Strawberry Custard Tart and Milk Chocolate Honeycomb.
ADAM ROAD FOOD CENTRE
2 Adam Road
There are just way too many good food stalls here but for now we will narrow it down to our two favourite stores.
Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak #01-02
They are so good, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong once served this Nasi Lemak to Indonesian President Joko Widodo when he was here in Singapore. There is no escaping the long queue, but we say drop by at 11am for short or no queue. We love their fried chicken and sambal chilli! The sambal chilli is a sweet-savoury-spicy version, specially cooked with both Indian and Japanese chillies.
Adam Rd Noo Cheng Big Prawn Noodles #01-17
We literally had a bowl of spicy dry prawn noodles with pork ribs for lunch before writing this guide. They are generous with their prawns, thick and fresh and the broth give off such an umami taste, it’s truly a hearty meal.
COSY CORNER
#02-02 Coronation Plaza
We grew up eating the Popiah and Kueh Pie Tee here, it’s definitely a place that holds a lot of memories for us. Mr Leong has been making delicious dishes at Coronation since 1988. The popiah are huge and filled with ingredients, the skin is very soft with generous amount of crispy bits of parboiled rice giving it an interesting texture. Warning, the aromatic Nyonya style chilli sauce is spicy and promises to leave you craving more! The Kueh Pie Tee is a fun dish to order, as you get to do-it-yourself.
CROWN BAKERY & CAFE
#01-03 Crown Centre
Crown Bakery & Cafe stood out along Bukit Timah with its cerulean blue French style decor. We drop by often for the baked goods, especially the almond croissants. They offer over 45 different varieties of bread, viennoiseries and snacks. If dine-in seatings are available, be sure to try many dishes!
